История Ранчо Санта Фе начинается в 1906 году, когда вся земля ранчо Хуан Асуна была куплена компанией железной дороги Санта Фе. На одной из частей этого ранчо с названием " The Covenant" было посажено 3000 эвкалиптовых деревьев. Эти деревья планировалось использовать при строительстве железной дороги. В последствие выяснилось, что дерево недостаточно прочно для этой цели. Компания железной дороги построила отель The Inn и стала продавать землю вокруг этого отеля. Был даже нанят известный архитектор из Сан-Франциско ( Lilian Rice), который спроектировал The Village и задал испанский дух для последующего строительства.
